Our Kids Success Stories
Tom had been homeless for 6 years when he came into Stepping Stones. He had uncontrolled medical issues, and had been arrested for stealing change, so he could eat. He loved to work on cars, but he didn’t know how to get out of his situation, and didn’t know how to move forward with his life.
Tom is no longer homeless. He now has his own apartment, has bought a vehicle, and is attending school to get his ASE Master certification. He plans to become an ASE Master tech, where he will have a good, livable income and will be a self-sufficient adult in a career that he loves.
Kim has been homeless for a few months when she came to Stepping Stones. She has severe anxiety, and was having trouble functioning on a day-to-day basis, when she had no idea where she would be able to sleep that night. She was sleeping in her car, until it was towed.
Kim moved into her first apartment last month, and is working part-time with dogs, a job she loves. Her anxiety is under control, and she expects to have her driver’s license by the end of the month. Next on her horizon? A car, and maybe college? The possibilities are now endless!
Jose and Katelynn
Jose and Katelynn are living in their car. They are recently married, and not sure what they need to do to move forward.
Jose and Katelynn are waiting for a house voucher, so that they can afford a place to live. Oscar is working full-time, and Kai is attending NCC full-time. They hope to open their own business one day. We can’t wait to see how their new business turns out!
Zack came to Stepping Stones last winter, and he was living under a local bridge. He was just 18, had left an abusive home, and had nowhere to go.
Zack has completed his LNA training, bought a car, is working on his driver’s license, and has moved into his first apartment just last week. Due to the kindness of our community, he is fully set up with furniture, and supplies he needs to stock his new home.
